This is a complete word for word quote of a story you can find here but it's something which I found a bit baffling. Here you go:
Old Man Arrested For Releasing Air On 100 Bikes
The 79-year-old retiree, whose name has not been released, was arrested for willful destruction of property as he allegedly damaged the valve from a bicycle tire in Chiba's Wakaba-ku on Sunday.
The old man, who lives with his wife and adult daughter, admits to the allegations.
"Nobody will give me any time and I was feeling lonely," he said.
Police said the old man was arrested on Sunday afternoon for destructing the valve from a tire on a bicycle belonging to a 32-year-old man, who had parked it in Wakaba-ku.
About 100 copycat incidents have been reported in the area since April. A Wakaba-ku neighborhood association had complained to the police, who had been on the lookout for whoever was removing valves from bicycle tires.
I thought it a bit odd he would go round letting down people's tyres and damaging their valves because he was 'feeling lonely'. I know people don't always act in a logical manner and that applies especially when they're upset but it seems rather strange to damage the valves on their tyres. That bit of it is really malicious. It seems fairly light hearted (although still exceptionally annoying if you're one of the victims and I know I wouldn't be remotely amused by it if it was me) to simply let the tyres down but damaging/removing parts of the valves is a fairly shitty thing to do. I'm sure it left a lot of people stranded and could have created plenty of problems for the bicycle owners. Anyway, my opinion on the story is 'What an old turd/twat/arsehole!'.

What a loony old git. How does he feel any less alone in the cosmos by wrecking people's valves?? It would be especially bad for me as I'd no doubt assume I had a puncture and struggle for about half an hour trying to get my bloody tyre off (I just can't seem to get the hang of it! Just as well I've never got a puncture when I've been out on my own - touch wood!) and end up having to ask a complete stranger for help/phone for someone to come and get me/attempt to walk home while carrying my bike on my shoulder - feeling a fool in any scenario! I would not be amused.
