Kirby Girl's bike update

Huzzah again! It seems Kirby Girl's bike is going to be ready for collection next week (Thursday the 2nd at the latest, I've been told). Now all I have to do is be able to pay for it. How much do you get for eight pints of blood nowadays?

Sheryl Crow's cancer operation

I know she's not really as related to cycling as we was about a month ago, since her split with Lance Armstrong, but I'm mentioning Sheryl Crow as I can't help but feel bad for her and the rotten time of it she's been having lately.

After her engagement breaking down, she's now had to have a breast cancer operation. It seems (if I'm reading this correctly) they've caught things pretty early on and the signs are good but it mustn't be the most fun she's ever had in her life.

I know plenty of people suffer in plenty of ways without my writing about them but this is vaguely cycling related and I thought I would write about it.

Woohoo! I'm excited!

I phoned the shop we're getting Kirby Girl's bicycle from just there and they've got the frame in. All that's left for them to do is check the specifications and assemble it. I'm really excited and can't wait to see it in the 'flesh' (or Reynolds 631 steel as is more truthful).

As I mentioned before, it's going to be almost identical to my own bike (same frame and groupset) only different colours, a different saddle and those Salsa brake levers she loves (well, she loves the Tektro ones she's got on another bike so it's pretty likely she'll love the Salsa levers too).

Hopefully we'll be able to pick the bike up sometime in the next couple of weeks. As stated before, I'm really excited about it. Oh gawd! I hope it doesn't look better than my bike. Actually, I kind of hope it does. I want it to be as desirable as possible so Kirby Girl is motivated into plenty of cycling and I can get my way ie. she'll come out cycling loads with me.

Splittsburgh Sheryl Cycle Shocker!

I see Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow have called off their wedding plans and split up. I'm really only writing this for the sake of a new post but have you noticed how much Sheryl Crow looks like Lance Armstrong's ex-wife? He definitely seems to have a type he likes. I wonder if he'll go for someone younger and in a similar vein in the future? Creepily enough, his mother also has that look (although a bit older than the women he's dated or married).
